What is scary is that image generating AI is being trained to add imperfections in order to seem more 'real.' That is how it overcomes the uncanny valley that was common in the early days. In time the robots will know to make the pie lopsided. Will the pie pass the turing test?
I remember on a birthday long ago (I think it was my 40th), my daughter decided she was going to bake me my favorite cake for my birthday. Lemon Chiffon. From scratch. Using my Betty Crocker cookbook.
My wife tried to discourage her, suggesting that going to the bakery and picking up a cake would be less frustrating. But my daughter persevered.
The cake came out more than slightly lopsided, with runny frosting, and the strawberries she'd used as an accent on top were slowly migrating towards the edge, where, if left untouched, they would end up going like lemmings off a cliff.
But she brought it out, everyone sang "Happy Birthday," and I cut into the cake. To be honest, I expected it to be a disaster, but was determined to put on a happy face and eat the slice, so as not to upset my girl.
To everyone's amazement, despite its appearance, the cake tasted AWESOME! She had modified the recipe a little bit by substituting lemon pudding for the lemon juice and cornstarch. I ate two slices of it, and polished it off the next day.
Things don't have to be perfect in appearance to be wonderful.
Instead of woo woo, it's the most un-woo thing there is :) (Is un-woo a word? It is now LOL). Being made in the image and likeness of our Creator, we were meant to create. The AI will bring out the human in us and the things that are most important - I think I love that it will do that more than all the other things it does. And... I just made a very lopsided pie. I'm trying to be glad for my imperfections these days! There are plenty of them!
I wonder if an AI generated article reflecting what you posed in this post would have been written in the same way. "No conversation. No eye contact. No human interaction" these are technically incomplete sentences. Would AI have added proper verbs? Your points were liking punches. They emphasized through the staccato rhythm that would have completely been ineffective with textbook, complete sentences. The human error makes things, um, more human! I'm all for it!
